Back in November, one of our current authors, Daphne Machon (pictured, right) came to meet our very own Pauline Tebbutt to discuss her latest book. Daphne’s usual genre is crime fiction and she has written six books around main character, Harriet ‘Harry’ Love. Her two most recent books, Dressed For Murder and Framed For Murder, were published by Fast-Print. Her latest book is worlds away from the gritty and energetic lifestyle of Harry Love, though.
Entitled Charlee’s New Glasses this light-hearted children’s story is all about a boy called Charlee who discovers he needs glasses. Charlee has lots of fun trying on different glasses and when he tells his classmates he might have to wear glasses none of them laugh.
When speaking to Daphne about her new literary venture she explained why she chose this shift in genre:
“I wrote Charlee's New Glasses for my grandson when he was told he would have to wear glasses and he was upset about this. As no one else in his class wore glasses he thought he might be teased so I wrote this story for him. It cheered him up enormously and, in fact, when he went to school in his glasses his friends thought they were terrific.”
Daphne’s book is bound to be a hit with children and parents alike. Charlee’s New Glasses will be available soon though the Fast-Print bookshop. To view her current titles, follow the link.
