For just £75*, this essential publishing starter kit does exactly what it says on the tin, with everything you need to get your work into the public domain and available for order on a global scale. The ISBN and barcode generation means that your book gets its own individual ISBN, which is necessary for the industry to trace the book and for orders to be made. Since a copy of every published book must, by law, be sent to the UK’s six legal deposit libraries, we will take care of this for you - printing and sending your publication to each of the necessary libraries.

Your published book will be available to order through the Fast-Print bookshop, and, most importantly, will be entered into our print-on-demand system which makes your book available to be ordered by any retailer or member of the public.

With our new à la carte system, you can choose exactly how much assistance you need in perfecting your book. Order our Publishing Essentials kit on its own if your manuscript is fully edited, in the correct layout and ready to print. If you would like help with editing, page layout and/or cover design, please browse through the design and editorial services that we offer.

*£75 is based on paperback publishing. Publishing Essentials for hardback books costs £125. These prices are based on books which are predominantly black and white. Full-colour Publishing Essentials (books with over 20% colour pages) costs £135 for paperbacks and £185 for hardbacks. For more information please contact one of our Publishing Services Advisors.

ISBN and Barcode

Every published book needs its own unique ISBN and barcode so that the book industry can trace the book in order to order the publication. Fast-Print will provide this essential service for you.

Legal Deposit Copies

This is the act of depositing published material in six designated libraries and archives. It is a legal requirement that one copy of all material published in the UK must be sent to each of these libraries.

These libraries are (in no particular order):

The British Library
The Bodleian Library, Oxford
The University Library, Cambridge
The National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh
The Library of Trinity College, Dublin
The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth

As part of the Publishing Essentials kit, we will sort out the printing and deposit of these six copies of your book.

Entry into the Bookshop

With the Fast-Print Publishing Essentials kit, your book will be entered into the Fast-Print bookshop, which is accessible on the Fast-Print website. This is a simple way for people to order copies of your book.

Print on-demand system entry

This is part of the Publishing Essentials kit and is, arguably, the most important element. Fast-Print will enter your book’s details into our print-on-demand system which means that your book will be available to order by any retailer or member of the public.

Full Distribution

Fast-Print makes your book available for distribution on a worldwide scale. We sell thousands of books every year through our extensive distribution network, and every sale earns the author a royalty payment.
